Through initiatives like Forest Schools and the integration of outdoor activities across subjects, Finland has established itself as a global leader in outdoor education. In this course you will get insights how to utilize outdoor settings, activities, and experiences to promote learning and you will learn to put pedagogical theory into practice by creating meaningful tasks that will enhance not only enhance academic learning but also promote physical health, mental and emotional well-being, environmental awareness and connection to nature, teamwork and social skills, critical thinking and problem-solving.
During this Erasmus+ course you will
- become familiar with the world-renowned Finnish education system and examine the role of outdoor education in Finland.
- explore techniques to promote experiential learning outdoors.
- learn new methods to build teamwork and social skills with tasks that need problem solving and critical thinking.
- get hands-on experience on utilizing outdoor settings, activities, and experiences to promote learning.
- discuss and exchange ideas with other course participants in a multicultural environment
- network with teachers and staff members working in the field of education in Europe.
